[26] [The] Pure Land Dharma Door Has Which Root Sūtras?
◎ 净土法门的根本经典包括《佛说无量寿经》、《佛说观无量寿佛经》、《佛说阿弥陀经》、《大势至菩萨念佛圆通章》和《普贤行愿品》，名为《净土五经》，是印光法师亲自选定。
◎ [Summary]: [The] Pure Land Dharma Door’s root sūtras include [the] Sūtra [In Which The] Buddha Speaks [Of] Immeasurable Life, Sūtra [In Which The] Buddha Speaks [Of] Contemplation [Of] Immeasurable Life Buddha, Sūtra [In Which The] Buddha Speaks [Of] Amitā[bha Buddha], Section [On] Great Power Arrived Bodhisattva’s Perfect Penetration [With] Mindfulness [Of] Buddha, and Universal Virtue’s Practices [And] Vows’ Chapter, [which are] named as [the] Pure Land [Tradition’s] Five Sūtras, [and] were [by] Dharma Master Yìnguāng personally selected.
《净土五经》乃念佛法门之根本。
[The] Pure Land [Tradition’s] Five Sūtras [are] thus [the] roots of [the] Mindfulness [Of] Buddha Dharma Door.
当送通文理、有信心、能恭敬者。
[They] should [be] given [to] those [who can] penetrate [their] text [and] principles, have [the] faithful mind, [and are] able [to be] reverent.
详阅光二序一跋，即可知净土法门之所以然。
Detailedly reading [Yìn]guāng’s two prefaces [and] one afterword, then can [there be] knowing [the] reasons, of why [there is the] Pure Land Dharma Door.
再阅此五经，则知其广大高深，凡圣同归矣。
Again reading these five sūtras, then knowing their vastness [and] profundity, [that] ordinary [and] noble [beings] together return [to].
《复拜竹居士书四》
(Fourth Reply Letter [To] Layperson Bàizhú)
前日接手书，知汝少年发心修净业，不胜欣羡。
[The] day before yesterday, receiving [your] personally written letter, knowing you [have from] young, given rise [to the] aspiration [to] cultivate pure karmas, [I was] extremely joyful [with] admiration.
昨本欲复，以有人客未暇。今为寄《净土五经》（一本），此净土法门之根本，详观光前后两序，自可知其大义。
Yesterday, [I] originally desired [to] reply, [but] because of having people [as] guests, did not [have] spare time. Now for [you], sending [the] Pure Land [Tradition’s] Five Sūtras (one book), this [is the] root of [the] Pure Land Dharma Door. Detailedly contemplating [Yìn]guāng’s two prefaces [at the] front [and] back, [you] naturally can know their great meanings.
《复徐志一居士书》
(Reply Letter [To] Layperson Xú Zhìyī)
光老矣，目力精神均不给，不能详为开示，今为各寄甲乙两包经书。
[As Yìn]guāng [is] old, [with] eyesight [and] energy all not enough, [I am] not able [to] detailedly for [you] teach. Now, for each [of you, I am] sending [the] first [and] second, two packages [of] sūtra books.
甲包系《净土五经》（一本），此净土法门之根本，宜常受持。
[The] first package contains [the] Pure Land [Tradition’s] Five Sūtras (one book). [As] this [is the] root of [the] Pure Land Dharma Door, [it] should [be] constantly accepted [and] upheld.
