[83] [The] Methods Of Contemplator [Of] Sounds [Bodhisattva’s] Universal Door
Contemplator [Of The World’s] Sounds [Bodhisattva’s] [观世音菩萨], [had] in immeasurable kalpas [ago], long accomplished [the] Buddha path. For delivering sentient beings, not departing [from] still light, she appears [with a] Bodhisattva’s body.
Also again, universally responding [to] all living beings, approaching [with] forms [in the] six paths, with non-doing’s wonderful power [of] thirty-two responses, fourteen fearlessnesses [and] four inconceivables, seeking sounds [to] save [from] suffering, delivering [and] liberating sentient beings.
[Note 1: Thirty-Two Responses (三十二应): See https://purelanders.com/pumenpin]
[Note 2: Fourteen Fearlessnesses (十四无畏): See Śūraṅgama Sūtra’s《楞严经》Sixth Scroll (卷六).]
[Note 3: Four Inconceivables (四不思议): (i) Sentient beings are inconceivable (众生不可思议) (in terms of causes and effects of birth and death), (ii) Worlds are inconceivable (世界不可思议) (in terms of all being due to sentient beings’ complex and ‘cyclical’ karmas), (iii) Dragons’ realms are inconceivable (龙境界不可思议) (in terms of how they can transform and descend rain with their thoughts), (iv) Buddhas’ realms are inconceivable (佛境界不可思议) (in terms of the Buddhas’ bodies’ purity, that cannot be said to be tall or short, with unsurpassable far-reaching pure voices, wisdom, eloquence, lifespans and supernormal powers for speaking the Dharma.]
[If there] should [be] those with whatever bodies attaining deliverance, immediately appearing [with] whatever bodies then, for [them] speaking [the] Dharma.
Directly [the] same [as the] moon ‘sealing’ [on a] thousand rivers, [and] spring nurturing ten thousand plants. Although then completely without planning [and] considering, yet again without even a slight difference.
[This is] really because [of] complete realisation [of] mind-only, [with] perfect manifestation [of] self-nature. [With] compassion used [on the] same body, [and] loving-kindness arising without conditions.
Immediately [with] thoughts of sentient beings used as [the] mind, [with the] realms of utmost dharma realms used as [the] measure. [With] this knowing [that] inexhaustible dharma realms [and] immeasurable sentient beings, [are] all within [the] Bodhisattva’s still [and] illuminating mind.
Thus attaining cloud[like] covering [of] loving-kindness’ door, [and] waves rising [in] compassion’s ocean, [once] having connection immediately attending, [with] no wish not complied.
