[82] Contemplator [Of The] World’s Sounds Bodhisattva’s Universally Appearing Universal Door
Contemplator [Of The] World’s Sounds Bodhisattva, within past kalpas, already long accomplished [as a] Buddha, named ‘Right Dharma’s Brightness’. However, with loving-kindness [and] compassion’s mind sincere, although then peacefully abiding [in] Constant Still Light’s Land, then again approached [with] forms [in the] True Reward, Skilful [and] Together Dwelling, [these] three lands.
Although then constantly appearing [with a] Buddha’s body, yet repeatedly [and] universally appearing [with] bodies of Bodhisattvas, [those by] Conditions Awakened, Voice-Hearers, human [and] heavenly [beings].
Although then constantly attending [to A]mitā[bha Buddha] [i.e. Āmítuófó (阿弥陀佛)], yet repeatedly [and] universally in [the] ten directions’ inexhaustible dharma realms, universally appearing [with] physical bodies.
So-called only having benefits, without [those] not flourishing. [If there] should [be] those with whatever bodies attaining deliverance, immediately appearing [with] whatever bodies then, for [them] speaking [the] Dharma.
That Mount Pǔtuó [i.e. Mount Potalaka (普陀洛迦山)], [is] thus [the] place of [the] Bodhisattva, [where she] responds [with] manifestations. Desiring [to] lead sentient beings offering sincerely [to] have [a] place, [she] revealed manifestations [on] this mountain.
How can [the] Bodhisattva only [be] at [Mount] Pǔtuó, [and] not at other places? [With] one moon illuminating [in the] sky, [in] ten thousand rivers [will its] reflections appear. Even if small then, within one spoon’s one drop [of] water, [in] each one, all [will] appear [with the] complete moon.
If [the] water [is] muddled and moving, then [is the] moon’s reflection, then not distinct [and] clear. [As the] minds of sentient beings [are] like water, if wholeheartedly focusing [on] mindfulness [of the] Bodhisattva, when [the] Bodhisattva [is] then in [the] thought, [this] then leads [to] hidden [and] obvious obtaining [of] benefits.
If [the] mind [is] not sincere, [and] not single-minded, then [is it] difficult [to] receive salvation [and] protection.
This meaning [is] extremely profound. [There] should [be] reading [of] Yìnguāng’s ‘Collected Writings’ within, [the] ‘Lithographic Prints [Of] Mount Pǔtuó Record’s Preface’ [to] personally know [it].
[Note 1: See an excerpt at https://purelanders.com/2021/04/27/how-buddhas-and-bodhisattvas-use-innumerable-manifestation-bodies-to-deliver-sentient-beings-at-the-same-time.]
That name, ‘Contemplator [Of The] World’s Sounds’, [is] with [the] Bodhisattva’s cause within. Due [to] contemplating [of] hearing’s nature, [she] then realised perfect penetration. [On the] effect above, due [to] contemplating sounds of sentient beings reciting [her] name, then giving, saving [and] protecting, thus [is she] named as ‘Contemplator [Of The] World’s Sounds’.
That ‘Universal Door’, [is] with [the] Bodhisattva’s path great without boundary, universally according [to] all sentient beings’ root natures, leading them [to] approach [the] path [to] return home, not only establishing one [Dharma] Door.
Like [the] world’s sicknesses having [a] thousand kinds, then [do] medicines have ten thousand grades. Not attached definitely [to] one Dharma [Door], according to those, [by] those confused, [with] reaching of those easy [to] awaken aspects, then pointing [out and] teaching them.
Like [with the] six roots, six dusts, six consciousnesses [and] seven great [elements], each [and every] one can all obtain realisation [with] perfect penetration. Therefore, [with] Dharma [Door after] Dharma [Door], every [one], all are [Dharma] Doors of exiting [the cycle of] birth [and] death, [and] realising Right Awakening, thus named [as the] ‘Universal Door’. If [the] Bodhisattva [is] only at [the] Southern Sea, then [is it] not enough [to be] with [this] as ‘universal’.
[Note 2: Six roots (六根): (i) eye root (眼根), (ii) ear root (耳根), (iii) nose root (鼻根), (iv) tongue root (舌根), (v) body root (身根), (vi) mind root (意根).]

[Note 5: Four great elements (四大): (i) earth great element (地大) of solidity, (ii) water great element (水大) of fluidity, (iii) fire great element (火大) of (heat) energy, (iv) wind great element (风大) of movement.
Seven great elements (七大): (i–iv) four great elements (四大), (v) space great element (空大) of nothingness, (vi) perception great element (见大) of seeing, (vii) consciousness great element (识大) of awareness.]
