[293] From Karmas Exhausted And Passions Emptied, Naturally Arriving At Knowing Others’ Minds’ Supernormal Power

[Knowing] others’ minds’ [super]normal [power] has all kinds [that are] not [the] same. Only restricted [to] those [who have] realised [the] path speaking, like [Dharma Master] Shù’ān [澍庵法师], regardless of [being] asked [about] whatever book, [he was] immediately able [to be with] each [and every] one recited clearly, [with] one word not wrong.

[As] this person usually [did] not study books, how was [he able to be] like this? With [evil] karmas exhausted [and] passions emptied, [his] mind [was] like [a] clear mirror. When without people asking, [his] mind within [was] also [with] one word unobtainable.

By the time [with] that asked, with that himself first read before [and] seen asked, that although long [ago] and not remembered, his eighth consciousness’ field within, already retained [and] received [the] reflections of all these words [and] lines.

(Reading Buddhist sūtras [is] also like this. [As] ancient persons say, [with] one tint [on the] consciousness, forever as [the] path’s seed, [there] should [be] true faith in this)

Those persons, with ignorance confined [and] blocked, completely [do] not know [this, and are not] aware [of this]. Yet, those [who] have this [knowing] others’ minds’ [super]normal [power, are] immediately within those minds’ consciousnesses’ reflections, obviously [and] clearly seeing them, thus able [to], according [to that] asked [about], accordingly recite, without one error.

Even if those asking [have] yet [to] see these books, [they are] also able [to], within those minds’ consciousnesses of other persons [who have] seen [them], for those [asking] recite them.

This involves using [the] minds of other persons, [with them] regarded as one’s mind used, not [that] their minds constantly have many sūtra books’ memorised [and] not forgotten.
