感化同人，不在资财
[312] Touching [And] Transforming [Of] Colleagues [Do] Not Depend [On] Capital [And] Goods
且勿谓吾家素寒，不能广积阴德，大行方便。
Moreover, [do] not say [that as] my family [is] simple [and] poor, [we are] not able [to] widely accumulate hidden virtues, [and] greatly practise skilful means.
须知身口意三业皆恶，即莫大之恶。倘三业皆善，即莫大之善。
[It] must [be] known [that if the] body, speech [and] mind, [these] three karmas, [are] all evil, then [is] this evil [with] nothing greater. If [the] three karmas [are] all good, then [is] this good [with] nothing greater.
至如愚人不信因果，不信罪福报应。侃侃凿凿，依《安士全书》等所说，为其演说。
Even if [there are] foolish people [who do] not believe [in] cause [and] effect, [and do] not believe [in] transgressions [and] blessings’ retribution [and] rewards’ responses, [with] right confidence [and] true certainty, according to ‘Ānshì’s Complete Book’ [and] others, [with] those said, for them expound.
令其始则渐信因果，继则深信佛法，终则往生西方，了生脱死。
Leading them, [in the] beginning then, [to] gradually believe [in] cause [and] effect. Continuing then, [to] deeply believe [in the] Buddha’s Dharma. [In the] end then, [to be] reborn [in the] Western [Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss] [西方极乐世界], [for] liberation [from the cycle [of] birth [and] death.
一人如是，功德尚无量无边，何况多人。
[If for] one person [doing] thus, [this is with] meritorious virtues also immeasurable [and] boundless, moreover [if for] many persons.
然须躬行无玷，方可感化同人。
However, [there] must [be] personal practice without blemish. Then can [there be] touching [and] transforming [of] colleagues.
自己妻女，能信受奉行，别人自能相观而善矣。岂在资财多乎哉？
[With your] own wife [and] daughters, able [to] faithfully accept [and] practise [this], other people [are] naturally able [to] look at one another and [become] good [too]. How can [this] depend [on having] much capital [and] goods?
