[13] Concluding Remarks Of ‘One Letter As A Common Reply’《

[13] Concluding Remarks

[As Yìn]guāng [is] old [already, with] vigour [by the] day weakening, [I am] without energy [to] reply incoming letters. However, with postal routes greatly connected, leading [to those] far [and] near [to] mistakenly hear [my] false reputation, again and again [having] incoming letters. If [with] all not replied, [I] also feel [that this] has betraying [of their] received intentions.

If for each [and every] one [of them] replying, [I] am honestly without this vigour. Therefore printing this long letter, [for] all concerning practice, and establishing oneself [to] enter [the] world, [and the] path of serving parents [and] teaching children, all for [them] briefly speaking.

Later having letters coming, [they are] with this seen [letter] sent [in reply]. Even if [there] are one [or] two special matters, then on [the] incoming letters briefly instructing [with a] few words, hopefully [with] one another’s sentiments communicated, yet not until [becoming] overly tired too.

If desiring [to know] great extensive sūtra teachings, [you] certainly should request teachings [from] Dharma teachers [who are] great [and] extensive experts, [who] highly erect Dharma pillars. [It] must [be] known [that] those [who know] great extensive sūtra teachings, [are] not necessarily able [to, in this] immediate life, [be] liberated [from the cycle of] birth [and] death. Desiring [to, in this] immediate life [be] liberated [from the cycle of] birth [and] death, [there] should [be] emphasis on [having] Faith [and] Aspiration [to] recite [the] Buddha[’s name, to] seek birth [in his] Western [Pure Land].

[In the] year order [of] Rénshēn’s [i.e. 9th year of 60-year cycle] (1932 C.E.) [day on the] beginning [of] winter, [by] Constantly Repentant Monk, Gǔshēn’s [i.e. today’s Héyáng: 合阳] Shì Yìnguāng, when writing, aged 72.
