We always say, that desiring to attain the true benefits of the Buddha’s teachings, we must with reverent respect seek them.
Having one part of reverent respect, thus eradicates one part of transgressive karma, and increases one part of blessings and wisdom.
Having ten parts of reverent respect, thus eradicates ten parts of transgressive karma, and increases ten parts of blessings and wisdom.
If perhaps without any reverent respect, thus although planting a distant cause [for increasing blessings and wisdom later], yet, with the transgression of irreverence [or slighting], there is that which is unthinkable [i.e. too horrible to contemplate].
