[325] Books That Affirm Right Views, [With] Sūtra Teachings Confirming One Another
《高僧传》初、二、三、四集，《居士传》、《比丘尼传》、《善女人传》、《净土圣贤录》
[On] ‘High Monastics’ Biographies’ First, Second, Third [and] Fourth Collections’, ‘Laypersons’ Biographies’, ‘Bhikṣuṇīs’ Biographies’, ‘Good Women’s Biographies’ and ‘Record [Of] Pure Land’s Noble Sages’,
（共有三编，初编系清乾隆间彭际清居士，饬其侄希涑所辑。
([This] together has three compilations. [The] First Compilation was [in the] Qīng [Dynasty’s Emperor] Qiánlóng’s reign, [by] layperson Péng Jìqīng, [who] directed his nephew Xīsù, that compiled.
续编，系道光末，莲归居士胡珽所辑。
[The] Second Compilation was [in Emperor] Dàoguāng’s ending [years, by] layperson Liánguī, Hú Tǐng, that compiled.
三编，系民二十年后德森法师所辑。编者敬注），
[The] Third Compilation was twenty years later, [by] Dharma Master Désēn, that compiled. [By the] compiler-editor respectfully annotated),
皆记古德之嘉言懿行。
all record [the] excellent words [and] good actions [of] ancient virtuous [ones].
阅之，自有欣欣向荣之心，断不至有得少为足，与卑劣自处之失。
Reading them, naturally having [the] mind that joyfully thrives, absolutely not reaching [the] faults of having little attained [assumed] as enough, with [that] inferior [and] lowly personally dwelling.
《宏明集》、《广宏明集》、《镡津文集》、《折疑论》、《护法论》、《三教平心论》、《续原教论》、《一乘决疑论》，皆护教之书。
[On ‘The] Propagation [And] Clarification Collection’, ‘[The] Expanded Propagation [And] Clarification Collection’, ‘Tánjīn’s Collected Works’, ‘Doubt-Breaking Treatise’, ‘Dharma Protection Treatise’, ‘Three Teachings’ Fair-Minded Treatise’, ‘Continuation [Of] Original Teachings’ Treatise’, ‘One Vehicle’s Doubt-Resolution Treatise’, all [are] books that protect [the] teachings.
阅之，则不被魔外所惑，而摧彼邪见城垒矣。
Reading them, then not by demons outside those confused, then destroying those evil views’ city’s base.
此等诸书，阅之，能令正见坚固，能与经教互相证明。
[With] all these kinds [of] books, reading them, [they are] able [to] lead right views [to be] firm, [and] able [to be] with [the] sūtras’ teachings confirming one another.
且勿谓一心阅经，置此等于不问。则差别知见不开，遇敌或受挫辱耳。
Moreover, [do] not say [that with] wholehearted reading [of the] sūtras, [you can] set aside these kinds [of books], with [them] not paid attention [to]. Then, [with] differences [in] knowledge [and] views not clarified, [when] meeting enemies, perhaps receiving humiliation only.
