[256] With My Mind That Possesses [The] Buddha, Mindful [Of The] Buddha That My Mind Possesses
This mind [is] everywhere, permanent [and] constant, like empty space thus. We, due [to] confusions [and] defilements thus, give rise [to] all attachments.
For example, like empty space, with objects obstructing it, [is] then ‘not everywhere, not’ permanent [and] constant’. However, that ‘not everywhere, not permanent [and] constant’, [are] thus attachments’ false appearances.
How [can] empty space, if really following those objects that obstruct, thereupon [be] ‘not everywhere, not permanent [and] constant’? Therefore, [the] minds of ordinary beings, with [the] minds of Thus Come [Ones], that [have] realised non-arising [and] non-cessation, completely [do] not have [any] differences. Those differences, [are] thus [by] those ordinary beings’ confusions [and] defilements caused only, not [by] mind’s essence originally having changes.
[A]mitā[bha Buddha’s] [i.e. Āmítuófó (阿弥陀佛)] Pure Land, [is] totally within our that one thought’s mind-nature. ([This is the Pure Land Tradition’s Ninth Patriarch Great] Master [Ǒu]yì’s [净土宗九祖蕅益大师] so-called, ‘[With] Faith [that] within self-nature, truly has [A]mitā[bha] Thus Come [One] of [the] Western direction, [who has] presently accomplished [the] Buddha path [already, and] within [the] mind only, truly has [the] majesty of [the] Land [Of] Ultimate Bliss, [with the] profound [Faithful] mind [and] great Aspiration, [be] resolute [in] seeking birth [there].’ [That] is the same as this meaning. [By the] editor respectfully annotated)
Then [is] Āmítuófó, [who] my mind originally possesses. Since [he] is [who] my mind originally possesses, [I] certainly should [be] constantly mindful [of him]. Since [I am] able [to be] constantly mindful [of him], then [having] connection [and] response [for] mutual interaction. [With] cultivated virtues having merits, nature’s virtues [are] then revealed, [with] practices [and] principles [in] perfect harmony, [with] sentient beings [and the] Buddha not two.
Thus saying, ‘With my mind that possesses [the] Buddha, mindful [of the] Buddha that my mind possesses, how can [the] Buddha that my mind possesses, then not respond [to] my mind that possesses [the] Buddha?’
