力修净业，为真佛子
[310] Diligently Cultivate Pure Karmas [To] Be True Buddha’s Disciples
以阁下之才论，当依光所说，其为利益大矣。
With [the] talents of your excellency discussed, [you] should rely on that [Yìn]guāng [印光] said, [as] it [will] be [with] benefits great.
否则择一寂静隐晦之处，力修净业，将从前所得之学问文章，抛向东洋大海外，作自己原是一无知识之人。
Otherwise, choose a place that [is] tranquil [and] obscure, [to] diligently cultivate pure karmas, with those previously attained learning [and] essays, thrown towards [the] eastern sea, [to the] great ocean beyond, [with] oneself as [a] person who [is] originally without one [bit of] knowledge.
于不生分别心中，昼夜六时，专持一句洪名圣号。
From within [the] mind [that does] not give rise [to] differentiation, [in] day [and] night’s six periods [i.e. all the time], [have] focused upholding [of] one line, [the] great name, [the] sacred name [i.e. Āmítuófó (阿弥陀佛)].
果能死尽偷心，当必亲见本来面目。
If able [to] completely end [the] stealing mind [that deludedly craves for some other ‘better’ means to liberation], [you] will definitely personally see [your] original face.
从兹高竖法幢，俾一切人同归净土法海，生为圣贤之徒，没预莲池之会。
From now on, highly erect [the] Dharma’s pillars, so that all people [can] together return [to the] Pure Land’s Dharma ocean, [with] births as disciples of [the] noble [and] virtuous [at the] end, [by] entering [the] assembly of [the] lotus pond.
方可不负所学，为大丈夫，真佛子矣。
Then can [you] not betray that learnt, [to] be [a] person [of] great character, [a] true Buddha’s disciple.
