大孝偈
Verses On Great Filial Piety
往生净土者，
圆得宿命通。
知昔诸父母，
悉向西方送。
Those reborn in Pure Land,
completely attain the power to remember past lives.
Knowing all past fathers and mothers,
with all towards the Western Land delivered.
天眼视儿女，
佑护亲与友。
忆众曾家人，
菩提心最优。
With heavenly eyes seeing sons and daughters,
blessing and protecting relatives and friends.
Recalling all beings to have been family members,
they have the most excellent
Bodhicitta.
Note: Those who reach Pure Land will recall all past lives’ parents, children and other loved ones, also able to see them. Thus, with loving-kindness, compassion and gratitude, they can be guided to reach Pure Land for liberation. Also, recollecting all beings to have been cherished family members before, the greatest Bodhicitta will naturally arise there.
