[18] What Is The Amitābha Sūtra’s Main Point?
甲二、正宗分
A2: Main Principles’ Section
分三：初、广陈彼土依正妙果以启信，二、特劝众生应求往生以发愿，三、正示行者执持名号以立行。
Divided [In] Three [Parts]: First, Extensive Stating [Of] That Land’s Circumstantial [And] Direct Wonderful Fruits, With [Them] Awakening Faith, Second, Special Exhortation [To] Sentient Beings, [Who] Should Seek Rebirth With Giving Rise [Of] Aspiration, Third, Main Guidance [For] Practitioners [To] Uphold [Āmítuófó’s] Name, With [It] Establishing Practice.
【解】: 信愿持名，一经要旨。
[Explanation]: [With] Faith [and] Aspiration upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name, [is this] one sūtra’s main point.
信愿为慧行，持名为行行。
[With] Faith [and] Aspiration as Wisdom Practice, [and] upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name as Practical Practice.
得生与否，全由信愿之有无；
Attaining birth [in Āmítuófó’s Pure Land] or not, [is] all due [to] Faith [and] Aspiration that exist [or] not;
品位高下，全由持名之深浅。
[The] grade [and] position [of birth being] high [or] low, [is] all due [to Practice of] upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name that [is] deep [or] shallow.
故慧行为前导，行行为正修，如目足并运也。
Therefore, [with] Wisdom Practice as [the] guide, [and] Practical Practice as [the] Main Cultivation, like eyes [and] feet together [in] use.
