[521] 临终助念适合用什么法器？
[521] What Dharma Instrument [Is] Suitable [For] Use [When] Approaching [Life’s] End [With] Support-Chanting?
◎ 念佛法器，唯用引磬。引磬声清，听之令人心地清净。木鱼声浊，故不宜用于临终助念。
◎ [Summary]: [For] Dharma instruments [when] reciting [Āmítuó]fó’s [name (阿弥陀佛)], only use [the] guiding [hand] bell. [As the] wooden fish’s sound [is] low [and] heavy, [it is] thus not suitable [for] use in support-chanting [when] approaching [life’s] end.
念佛法器，唯用引磬，其他一切，概不宜用。引磬声清，听之令人心地清净。
[For] Dharma instruments [when] reciting [Āmítuó]fó’s [name], only use [the] guiding [hand] bell. All others [are] not suitable [for] use. [As the] guiding bell’s sound [is] clear, hearing it enables one’s mind-ground [to become] clear [and] pure.
木鱼声浊，故不宜用于临终助念。
[As the] wooden fish’s sound [is] low [and] heavy, [it is] thus not suitable [for] use in support-chanting [when] approaching [life’s] end.

又人之临终，助往生念佛，只宜击引磬，不可击木鱼。木鱼声浊，引磬声清。
Also, [for] those people approaching [life’s] end, supporting [their] rebirths [in Pure Land] reciting [Āmítuó]fó’s [name (阿弥陀佛)], [it is] only suitable [to] strike [the] guiding [hand] bell, [and] must not [be with] striking [of the] wooden fish. [As the] wooden fish’s sound [is] low [and] heavy, [while the] guiding bell’s sound [is] clear.
阁下试于朝暮念佛时，息心谛听，自知优劣。
[If] your excellency, when in [the] morning [and] evening reciting [Āmítuó]fó’s [name], resting [the] mind [and] attentively listening, [will] personally know [the] advantages [and] disadvantages.
