Repaying Kindness’ Dharma Door
Those cultivating [the] Pure Land [Dharma Door, should] quietly contemplate [that in our this] one life since, those [from whom we] receive kindness [that is the] most profound, [are with] none like [our] fathers [and] mothers. From ten months carrying [us in the] womb, [to] three years [of] breast-feeding, as well as [their] teaching [and] nurturing, [with] this kindness [and] these virtues, how [are they] able [to be] higher repaid?
Also [be] mindful [that] we, from immeasurable kalpas since, [have that] number of [those who] conceived [our] births, [which] cannot [be] exhausted completely. Then [is] that kindness of [our] fathers [and] mothers yet [to be] repaid, also [what] cannot [be] exhausted completely.
These immeasurable past lives’ fathers [and] mothers, now definitely have those within [the] hells [being] burnt, cooked, slaughtered [and] cut, definitely have those within hungry ghosts [by] hunger’s fires scorched [and] burnt, [and] definitely have those within animals carrying heavy [loads and being] dragged [for] ploughing.
We, if not believing [there] is this, are similar [to] mother hens being killed, yet [with their] small chicks not believing [it]. We, if not contemplating saving [and] delivering [them, are] similar [to the] small chicks, although seeing [their] mothers [being] killed, yet [do] not know what to do [to] save [and] deliver [them].
[With] Informing [of] words reaching this, then should [there be, with] mucus [and] tears sorrowfully weeping, raising [the] body [and] throwing [it to the] ground, [to] represent past lives [and this] present life’s fathers [and] mothers, and kind teachers [and] seniors [from whom we] received kindness, [and] family members, [to] give rise [to the] Bodhi Mind, [and with the] sincere mind recite [Āmítuófó’s] sacred name [for a] certain number of times.
[From] thought [to] thought within removing those eighty koṭis’ kalpas [of] births [and] deaths’ heavy transgressions, waiting [for] my rebirth [in Pure Land] after, returning [to] enter [this] Sahā [World], after [that] completely practising delivering [to] liberation.
If having those closest relatives, flesh [and] blood, [and] those newly encountering death, [they should] also [be] within [those] dedicated [to].
