
七可惜
Seven Regrettables
[1] 不知/不信:
弥陀有愿,竟虚彼国之金台;
阎老无情,偏惹他家之铁棒。
[1] Not knowing or not believing this:
Āmítuófó has vowed, to completely empty the gold daises of that [Pure] Land [by bringing them to receive and guide us]; With Old Yama merciless, on the contrary attracting the iron club of his house [in the hells].
[2] 不知/不信:
盆花野草,百计营求,
而永无凋谢之宝林,不求托处。
[2] Not knowing or not believing this:
For potted flowers with wild grasses, with a hundred plans managing and seeking them, yet for the [Pure Land’s] treasure forests that are forever without withering, not seeking to rely on that place.
[3] 不知:
现在身受饥寒,
却未思求生于衣食自然之所。
[3] Not knowing this:
Now with the body experiencing hunger and cold, but not yet contemplating seeking of birth in that place [Pure Land] with clothing and food natural.
[4] 不知/不信:
自古皆有死,
却未曾算到死归何处。
[4] Not knowing or not believing this:
Since ancient times, all have deaths, but not yet calculating until death, to ‘return’ to which place.
[5] 不知:
一廛一宇,拮据经营,
不求生于七宝庄严宫殿。
[5] Not knowing this:
With one shop and one house, with financial difficulties managing them, not seeking birth in the [Pure Land’s] seven treasures’ adorned palace halls.
[6] 不知/不信:
小小疾病,便求医卜,
却不愿生永无疾痛死亡之国。
[6] Not knowing or not believing this:
With very small sicknesses, then seeking doctors and divination, but not aspiring for birth in the [Pure] land that is forever without sickness, pain and death.
[7] 不知/不信:
涉水登山,犹欲参访知识;
弥陀现在说法,反不亲近瞻依。
[7] Not knowing or not believing this:
Wading across waters and ascending mountains, also desiring to pay visits to good-knowing friends; Āmítuófó is now speaking the Dharma, instead not getting close, to revere and rely on him.
