勿看他教,专一念佛
[2] Not Reading Other Teachings, [Having] Focused Single-Minded Mindfulness [Of] Buddha
观汝色力,似宜息心专一念佛。
Looking [at your] physical strength, [it] seems [that you] should extinguish [distracting] thoughts [for] focused single-minded [i.e. wholehearted] mindfulness [of the] Buddha[‘s name] [i.e. Āmítuófó (阿弥陀佛)].
其他教典,与现时所传布之书,一概勿看,免致分心,有损无益。
[Of] other teachings’ scriptures, with books that [are] currently circulated, similarly [do] not read [them, to] avoid becoming distracted, [which] has harms without benefits.
应时之人,须知时事。尔我不能应事,且身居局外,固当置之不问,一心念佛。以期自他同得实益,为唯一无二之章程也。
Those people [who] respond [to the] times, must know current affairs. Thus, I [am] not able [to] respond [to those] affairs. Moreover, [with] myself residing outside [the] situations, [they] certainly [should be] set aside without question, [for] wholehearted mindfulness [of the] Buddha[‘s name]. With hope [that] oneself [and] others [can] together attain true benefits, [this] is [the] only one rule without [a] second.
