开人智慧，功德第一
[308] Opening Others’ Wisdom [Has] Meritorious Virtues Foremost
所言培植功德，当以开人知识者为第一。
That said [on] cultivating meritorious virtues, should [be] with that [of] opening others’ knowledge as [the] foremost.
现今《增广文钞》已经排完，尚未结收。令弟若肯任若干，自己施送。
Now [that the] ‘Wider Collected Writings’ typesetting [is] already complete, [it is] still yet [to have the] bill settled. [Your] honourable younger brother, if willing, [can] bear [the cost of] a certain number [of copies], personally give [and] deliver [them].
[Note: The ‘Wider Collected Writings’《增广文钞》is the first compilation (正编) of the Collected Writings’《文钞》three compilations.]
俾一切阅者知往生净土之所以然，以此功德，为其父作往生之券，加以至诚，必可如愿。是为最有利益真实功德。
So that all readers [can] know [the] reasons [and] principles of rebirth [in] Pure Land. With these meritorious virtues, for your father creating [the] ‘certificate’ of rebirth [in Pure Land]. With additional sincerity, [he] definitely can [attain that] as aspired. This is [what] has [the] most benefits [and] true meritorious virtues.
