苦乐偈
Verses [On] Suffering [And] Bliss
无量寿经中，
五恶五善章，
为认清厌离，
此极苦世界。
[In the] Immeasurable Life Sūtra within, [is the] Five Evils’ [And] Five Goodnesses’ Chapter, for recognising clearly [and having] revulsed renunciation, [of] this world [of] extreme suffering.
五恶破五戒，
今生受五痛，
忏悔不及时，
来世遭五烧。
[With the] Five Evils breaking [the] Five Precepts, [in this] present life receiving [the] Five Pains, [if with] repentance not in time, [in] future lives encountering [the] Five Burnings.
五善转五恶，
得福德度世，
生极乐世界，
长寿泥洹道。
[With the] Five Goodnesses transforming [the] Five Evils, attain blessed virtues, [to be] delivered [from this] world, [to be] born [in the Pure] Land [Of] Ultimate Bliss, [with the] path [of] long life [for] Nirvāṇa.
