【一、十种三业】
[01] [S1] [First: Ten Kinds (Of) Three Karmas]


尔时智首菩萨问文殊师利菩萨言:「佛子,菩萨云何得无过失身语意业,云何得不害身语意业,云何得不可毁身语意业,云何得不可坏身语意业,云何得不退转身语意业,云何得不可动身语意业,云何得殊胜身语意业,云何得清净身语意业,云何得无染身语意业,云何得智为先导身语意业?

At that time, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva, ‘Disciple [of the] Buddha, [of] Bodhisattvas, how [do they] attain body, speech [and] mind karmas without faults [of] commission [and] omission? How [do they] attain non-harming body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain unruinable body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain indestructible body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain non-retrogressible body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain immovable body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain especially excellent body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain pure body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain undefiled body, speech [and] mind karmas? How [do they] attain with wisdom first guided body, speech [and] mind karmas?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain body, speech and mind karmas that perfectly avoid all evil, practise all good and purify the mind, for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【二、十种具足】
[02] [S2] [Second: Ten Kinds (Of) Perfection]

云何得生处具足、种族具足、家具足、色具足、相具足、念具足、慧具足、行具足、无畏具足、觉悟具足?

How [do they] attain [to be with] birth places perfect, clans perfect, families perfect, appearances perfect, forms perfect, mindfulness perfect, wisdom perfect, practices perfect, fearlessness perfect, [and] awakening perfect?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Ten Kinds Of Perfection for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【三、十种慧】
[03] [S3] [Third: Ten Kinds (Of) Wisdom]

云何得胜慧、第一慧、最上慧、最胜慧、无量慧、无数慧、不思议慧、无与等慧、不可量慧、不可说慧?

How [do they] attain excellent wisdom, foremost wisdom, most superior wisdom, most excellent wisdom, immeasurable wisdom, innumerable wisdom, inconceivable wisdom, unequallable wisdom, uncountable wisdom [and] unspeakable wisdom?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Ten Kinds Of Wisdom for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【四、十力】
[04] [S4] [Fourth: Ten Powers]

云何得因力、欲力、方便力、缘力、所缘力、根力、观察力、奢摩他力、毗钵舍那力、思惟力?

How [do they] attain causes’ power, desires’ power, skilful means’ power, conditions’ power, that conditioned’s power, roots’ power, observation’s power, śamatha’s power, vipaśyanā’s power [and] contemplation’s power?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Ten Powers for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【五、十种善巧】
[05] [S5] [Fifth: Ten Kinds (Of) Skilfulness]

云何得蕴善巧、界善巧、处善巧、缘起善巧、欲界善巧、色界善巧、无色界善巧、过去善巧、未来善巧、现在善巧?

How [do they] attain aggregates’ skilfulness, realms’ skilfulness, places’ skilfulness, arising conditions’ skilfulness, desire realm’s skilfulness, form realm’s skilfulness, formless realm’s skilfulness, past’s skilfulness, future’s skilfulness [and] present’s skilfulness?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Ten Kinds Of Skilfulness for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【六、七觉三定】
[06] [S6] [Sixth: Seven Awakening (Factors And) Three Concentrations]

云何善修习念觉分、择法觉分、精进觉分、喜觉分、猗觉分、定觉分、舍觉分、空、无相、无愿?

How [do they have] good practice [of the] mindfulness awakening factor, investigation [of] dharmas’ awakening factor, diligence awakening factor, joy awakening factor, tranquillity awakening factor, concentration awakening factor, equanimity awakening factor, emptiness, formlessness [and] wishlessness?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Seven Awakening Factors and Three Concentrations for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【七、六度四梵】
[07] [S7] [Seventh: Six Perfections (And) Four Bráhma
(Vihāras)]

云何得圆满檀波罗蜜、尸波罗蜜、羼提波罗蜜、毗黎耶波罗蜜、禅那波罗蜜、般若波罗蜜,及以圆满慈、悲、喜、舍?

How [do they] attain perfection [of] dāna-pāramitā, śīla-pāramitā, kṣānti-pāramitā, vīrya-pāramitā, dhyāna-pāramitā, prajñā-pāramitā, and [be] with perfection [of] loving-kindness, compassion, rejoice [and] equanimity?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Six Perfections and Four Bráhma Vihāras for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【八、十智力】
[08] [S8] [Eighth: Ten Wisdom Powers]

云何得处非处智力、过未现在业报智力、根胜劣智力、种种界智力、种种解智力、一切至处道智力、禅解脱三昧染净智力、宿住念智力、无障碍天眼智力、断诸习智力?

How [do they] attain [right] principles’ [and] wrong principles’ wisdom power, past, future [and] present karmic retributions’ wisdom power, superior [and] inferior roots’ wisdom power, all kinds [of] realms’ wisdom power, all kinds [of] understanding’s wisdom power, all arrived places’ [and] paths’ wisdom power, dhyānas’, liberations’ [and] samādhis’ defilements’ [and] purities’ wisdom power, past abodes’ mindfulness’ wisdom power, unobstructed heavenly eye’s wisdom power [and] severance [of] all habits’ wisdom power?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Ten Wisdom Powers for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【九、十王护持】
[09] [S9] [Ninth: Ten Kings’ Protection (And) Support]

云何常得天王、龙王、夜叉王、乾闼婆王、阿修罗王、迦楼罗王、紧那罗王、摩睺罗伽王、人王、梵王,之所守护,恭敬供养?

How [do they] constantly attain that guarding, protection, reverence [and] offerings of heavenly kings, dragon kings, yakṣa kings, gandharva kings, asura kings, garuḍa kings, kiṃnara kings, mahoraga kings, human kings [and] bráhma kings?

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Ten Kings’ Protection And Support for the ultimate benefit of one and all.]

【十、十度生、十超众】
[10] [S10] [Tenth: Ten Deliverances (Of) Sentient Beings, Ten Transcendences (Of) All]

云何得与一切众生为依、为救、为归、为趣、为炬、为明、为照、为导、为胜导、为普导?
 
How [do they] attain [to be] for all sentient beings as reliance, as salvation, as refuge, as [those] turned towards, as [their] torch, as brightness, as illumination, as guides, as excellent guides, [and] as universal guides?

云何于一切众生中为第一、为大、为胜、为最胜、为妙、为极妙、为上、为无上、为无等、为无等等?」

How [do they], of all sentient beings within, [be] as [the] foremost, as [the] greatest, as [the] excellent, as [the] most excellent, as [the] wonderful, as [the] ultimately wonderful, as [the] superior, as [the] unsurpassable, as [the] unequallable, [and] as [the] unequallable’s equals?

尔时文殊师利菩萨告智首菩萨言:「善哉,佛子,汝今为欲多所饶益,多所安隐,哀愍世间,利乐天人,问如是义。

At that time, Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva told Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva, ‘Excellent, disciple [of the] Buddha, you now, with [the] desire [to have] many [of] those [to have] benefits, many [of] those [to have] tranquillity, [with] sympathy [for the] world, [to] benefit [and] delight heavenly [and] human [beings], asked [about] such meanings.

[Note: To summarise, Wisdom Foremost Bodhisattva asked Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva how those training as Bodhisattvas (to become Buddhas) should practise, so as to attain the Ten Deliverances Of Sentient Beings and Ten Transcendences Of All for the ultimate benefit of one and all.

To these questions, Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva praised that they were excellently asked out of great compassion, as the answers that follow will benefit many beings.]
