断彼一切颠倒想,
犹如以水投海中。
Immeasurably, purely [and] equally giving, [till the] Five Corruptions’ sentient beings all become Buddhas. Severing all their inverted thoughts, just like with water thrown [into the] ocean within.
湿性混合无不同,
虽有圣智难分别。
人人皆为无量寿,
稽首瞻礼即西方。
[With] wetness’ nature mixed [and] merged, without [that] different, although having noble wisdom, difficult [to] differentiate. [With] everyone, all for Immeasurable Life [Buddha], prostrate [with] reverence, [and] worship immediately, [towards the] Western direction.
南北朝刘宋,宋文帝
Northern [And] Southern Dynasties’ Liú Sòng [Dynasty’s] Emperor Wén
[Note: The Pure Land Patriarchs generally discourage contemplation in terms of visualisation due to the coarseness of our minds in this era, versus the refined nature of the Buddha and the attributes of his Pure Land, which makes the practice extremely difficult. Instead, they strongly encourage wholehearted mindfulness of the Buddha’s name, which will still lead to the same effects aspired for.]
