Factors For Consideration
[1] On whether to plug in to life support or not, if with greater possibility of having proper recovery, there can be plugging in, while quickly offering guidance and support-chanting for swift recovery.
[2] If with greater possibility of having no proper recovery, (while causing pain and discomfort, that hamper even mental Niànfó), there should be no plugging in, while quickly offering guidance and support-chanting for swift rebirth in Pure Land.
[3] If there is uncertainty on which of the above has greater possibility, there should be assumption that the person is indeed dying, with greater possibility of not having proper recovery.
[4] If still uncertain on whether to plug in to life support or not, it is best to swiftly and sincerely pray to Āmítuófó for inspired advice, on what best to do.
[5] Although the above should be considered, it should also be noted that during life-threatening emergencies, to save their lives, patients might be plugged in to life support by default, as part of medical standard operational procedures.
