自他偈
Verses On Self & Other-Power
单以自力，
凡夫唯识，
非信愿行，
不生极乐。
Solely with Self-power, of an ordinary being’s mind-only, is not with Faith, Aspiration and Practice, thus without birth in the Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss.
深信他力，
弥陀净识，
切愿生乐，
念佛行至。
With profound Faith in the Other-power, of Amitābha Buddha’s pure mind, and sincere Aspiration for birth in his Land Of Ultimate Bliss, mindfulness of Buddha’s name [Āmítuófó] as Practice will reach it.
Note: Thus, we should connect our limited Self-Power to Āmítuófó’s immeasurable Other-Power, and our defiled minds to his purified mind, with the Three Provisions.
