‘With great mindfulness [of Buddha’s name – “Āmítuófó”] sees a great Buddha; with little mindfulness sees a little Buddha.’
Ancient virtuous ones explain this to say, ‘With a loud voice reciting, thus as seen is a Buddha’s great body; with a soft voice reciting, thus as seen is a Buddha’s little body.’
It can also be said that, ‘With a great heart [or mind] mindful [i.e. even if silently; verbally in the mind], thus as seen is a Buddha’s great body.’ With great Bodhi Mind [Bodhicitta] mindful of Buddha, thus can be seen is the Buddha’s supremely wonderful manifestation body or reward body.
